The EAD was created to collate images, bibliographies and site data in order to help preserve Egypt’s rich archaeological heritage.
The Theban Mapping Project
The EAD was produced by the staff of the Theban Mapping Project (TMP), whose extensive surveys and excavations in Luxor provided the basis for the web site www.thebanmappingproject.com. This provides a very detailed and comprehensive description of the sites and monuments of ancient Thebes. TMP is located at the American University in Cairo, whose IT department provided the technical expertise to make the EAD possible.
